Bio: (1891-1952) German-Danish sociologist. Theodor Geiger was born in Germany, where he began his career. He received his doctorate in law from the University of Munich and later taught at the Institute of Technology in Braunschweig. Because of the Nazis, he fled Germany in 1933 and went to Denmark, where he became a professor at the University of Aarhus. Within the same University, he founded the first sociological institute in Scandinavia and started the journal Acta Sociologica. Geiger mostly studied problems of class and mobility. He believed that before the Second World War, there was a clearly defined class structure in Germany. In addition, he dealt with urban sociology, the sociology of law, the relationship between ideology and mass society, and democracy.
